Sir Walter DNA Certified Buffalo is our best grass for allergy sufferers. It produces very little pollen. But best of all is the smoothness of its leaves. Buffalo grasses typically have serrated leaves, but our Sir Walter Buffalo has been cultivated over decades to be smooth and soft. It’s a great all-rounder.
TifTuf Bermuda is our second-best choice. It’s not as soft as Buffalo, but it is low pollen and is far tougher. Being a hard-wearing and rapidly self-repairing grass, it’s a great choice for kids and pets.
Sir Grange Zoysia is a soft, lush, low-pollen turf — but it is also purely ornamental. It’s a gorgeous grass for no-walking show gardens and commercial spaces, but you won’t be playing and picnicking on it.

Since allergies are your biggest concern, we strongly suggest you stay away from the Kikuyu: it sprays seeds and has serrated leaves — no good for the sensitive.
