For ten years we've been rolling out the lawns behind The Block's biggest backyard moments, and 2026 is no different. If you've been watching this season, you've already seen our work. Houses 1, 2 and 3 are sitting pretty on Sir Walter DNA Certified Buffalo, the soft, shade tough favourite Aussie families swear by. Houses 4 and 5 went with TifTuf Couch, the tough, water wise performer built to handle whatever summer throws at it.

The self described "bush bogans" swapped cattle stations for coastal views, but they know good turf when they see it. Shady backyard? No dramas. Sir Walter had it covered.

Why Sir Walter worked:

Thrives under the mature trees shading their backyard
Stays thick, green, soft where other lawns thin out
Built for big family days under the canopy

The fittest team on site needed a lawn that could keep up with burpees, three kids plus the odd victory lap. Sir Walter didn't even break a sweat.

Why Sir Walter worked:

Handles heavy foot traffic from kids plus backyard workouts
Recovers quickly from wear
Copes with full sun or part shade on their elevated block

Best seat in the house? Lisa & Rosco reckon so. With a view that good, they wanted a lawn they wouldn't have to babysit, so Sir Walter DNA Certified got the gig.

Why Sir Walter worked:

Lush, deep green finish that buyers fall for
Low maintenance, more time for the view
Soft enough for their little one to roam barefoot

A site manager plus an interior designer: nothing gets past these two. TifTuf passed the inspection.

Why TifTuf worked:

Loves full sun around their pool zone
Bounces back fast from constant pool traffic
Fine, neat leaf that frames the stepping stone path beautifully

Dad brought 45 years on the tools, Tayla brought the bossing around. Biggest block on site meant one seriously sweeping lawn, so TifTuf stepped up.

Why TifTuf worked:

Covers a big, curved lawn without serious upkeep
Drought tough, so more lawn doesn't mean a bigger water bill
Built for long evenings out by the pizza oven
