With a modest 45m² to work with, the focus for this project was precision. The ground was cleared through the garage to allow wheelbarrow access, keeping the job moving efficiently. Fertiliser was spread and raked in evenly before the surface was levelled and compacted, giving the turf a clean, stable base to establish from. Cutting and dovetailing each piece cleanly around the garden beds and concrete was the key to a neat, professional finish.

Helen wanted a lush, green, weed-free lawn that her two dogs could enjoy without the yard turning into a muddy mess. Shade tolerance was a priority given the morning shade the yard receives, and the turf needed to look great sitting alongside the raised garden beds and surrounding concrete without requiring constant upkeep.

Sir Walter DNA Certified Buffalo was selected for its ability to perform in shaded conditions, its wide soft blades, and its resilience to dog use. With only stolons and no rhizomes, it's also one of the easier varieties to manage around edges and hard landscaping, which suited the layout of this yard perfectly.
