Buffalo grasses typically have serrated leaves, but our Sir Walter Buffalo has been cultivated over decades to be smooth-edged and soft. It’s a great all-rounder.
• TifTuf Bermuda is our second-best choice. It’s not as soft as Buffalo, but it is low pollen and is far tougher. Being a hard-wearing and rapidly self-repairing grass, it’s a great choice for kids and pets.
• Sir Grange Zoysia is a soft, lush, low-pollen turf —but it is also purely ornamental. It’s a gorgeous grass for no-walking show gardens and commercial spaces, but you won’t be playing and picnicking on it.
