We brought the world’s most drought-tolerant grass to Australia
Victorian summers can turn lawns at Melbourne homes, businesses, and parks into yellow-brown kindling. We knew there had to be a solution, and we found it at the University of Georgia in America. Their agricultural scientists had bred a new Bermuda grass, TifTuf, specifically to withstand extended dry seasons. So we brought it back home.
Once we introduced TifTuf to Australia, we conducted further research and development to cultivate a strain uniquely suited to the local environment.
TifTuf Bermuda grass requires, on average, 38% less water than other species and yet still manages to stay lush and green during summer. Aesthetics aside, drought tolerance will make a huge difference when it comes time to pay your water bill. Plus, the planet will thank you, too.

Lilydale Instant Lawn owns and operates four expansive estates across Victoria. That’s where we grow our drought-tolerant grasses; they’re not imported from other neighbouring states. By operating multiple local turf farms, we can acclimate our turf to the full spectrum of Victorian soil and climate conditions.
